A Passion for Tradition
Torti Ya was born from a simple belief: everyone deserves access to authentic, fresh tortillas made the traditional way. Growing up in a family where tortilla-making was an art passed down through generations, we witnessed firsthand how the right tortilla can transform a meal.
We noticed that while Mexican cuisine has become beloved worldwide, truly authentic tortillas were hard to find outside of Mexico. Store-bought options often contained preservatives and lacked the flavor and texture of handmade tortillas. That's when we decided to bring the tradition to the streets.
Our mobile tortilla factory allows us to serve multiple neighborhoods, bringing fresh, handcrafted tortillas directly to our community. We use the same traditional methods and recipes that have been perfected over centuries, combined with the convenience of modern pre-ordering.

The Art of Tortilla Making
Making authentic tortillas is both a science and an art. It starts with selecting the finest corn and flour from trusted suppliers who share our commitment to quality. For our corn tortillas, we use traditional nixtamalization, a process that dates back thousands of years.
Each batch of masa is prepared fresh daily, with careful attention to moisture content, texture, and flavor. We press each tortilla by hand using traditional methods, ensuring the perfect thickness and consistency. The cooking process on our comal (traditional griddle) is timed precisely to achieve that characteristic golden-brown spots and soft, pliable texture.
Our flour tortillas are equally crafted with care, using a recipe that balances tenderness with strength. The dough is rested to develop flavor and texture, then rolled and cooked to perfection. The result is a tortilla that's soft, flavorful, and perfect for any dish.
